Fly and Dine! The seaplane flight to and from Peats Bite offers an excellent insight into life on the Hawkesbury River. After pulling up to Peats own seaplane dock, sit back and enjoy the food, wine and live music.

Peats Bite is situated on a little slice of paradise on the Hawkesbury River. Since opening in 1982 Peats Bite has developed a reputation for long relaxed luncheons. It's unique three-course menu incorporates banquet style entrees with à la Carte mains and desserts.

After pulling up to Peats own seaplane dock, sit back and enjoy the food, wine and live music. It is not uncommon for diners to have a between course dip in the pool or sit out on the lawn with coffee and dessert looking over the vista that is the Hawkesbury. The seaplane flight to and from Peats Bite offers an excellent insight into life on the Hawkesbury River and our aircraft glides over many oyster leases and ‘lifestyle' holiday homes dotting the beautiful islands. The contrast could not be more dramatic as we complete the day with a circuit of central Sydney and her two centrepieces – the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

A Little Bit About Peats Bite

Peats Bite is an exclusive water access only property an hour north of Sydney situated at Sunny Corner on the beautiful Hawkesbury River.

Since opening in 1982 this family owned and run business has become renowned for its long relaxed luncheons and live entertainment. The venue is well suited for functions and weddings with a spectacular river outlook, tropical gardens and lawns to the waters edge. Peats Bite's indoor/outdoor design has seating capacity of 150 persons and views from all aspects of the restaurant. The property also has six self contained water front holiday units, BBQ area and swimming pool, great for small conferences or weekends away.

With deep water frontage our pontoon is suitable for private vessels alternatively we offer transfers from Brooklyn, which is just a 15 minute trip. For those with a tight schedule, perhaps just in town for the weekend or entertaining overseas guests, Peats Bite is only a 20 minute flight along the beautiful Northern Beaches by Seaplane. Whatever the occasion Peats Bite can offer a truly unique experience.

Typical Menu

Starters 

  • Seafood plate – Scallop ceviche, Thai fish cake and prawn wonton
  • Taster – Cool carrot, orange and mint soup
  • Asparagus, ricotta and pine nut ravioli with basil butter
  • Mediterranean garlic tart
  • Corn, coriander and red pepper blini with a jalapeno and lime guacamole
  • Rosemary grissini

Mains

  • Verdura in carpione – layered eggplant, spinach, zucchini, red pepper, goats cheese and egg frittata, pan-fried then marinated with vinegar onions, sage and garlic. Accompanied with a warm tomato vinaigrette
  • BBQ'd sesame and lime spatchcock on kaffir lime pilaf rice and steamed bok choy with Thai eggplant and lemongrass
    relish, and a cucumber and sprout salad
  • Smoked paprika marinated chicken breast on pan-fried herb polenta, with crispy pancetta, lightly roasted fennel,
    tomatoes, red and green onion and tarragon with a tomato mustard cream sauce
  • Seared and roasted fillet of beef on colcannon (Irish mash potatoes with onion, bacon, garlic and cabbage) and greens
    topped with a beetroot and horseradish puree and a bitter sweet Guinness jus
  • Mrouzia – North African honeyed lamb. Lamb loin marinated in North African spices, honey and orange blossom water
    on cous cous with a rocket, green bean and almond salad
  • Peats Bite ribs with our own traditional plum sauce

Desserts

  • Spiced chocolate fondue with churros (Spanish doughnut), pistachio biscotti, strawberries and double cream
  • Toffee, banana and almond torte served with clotted cream. Peats Bite take on the traditional banoffi  pie
  • Lemon and poppyseed posset served in a glass with passionfruit mascapone and savoiardi biscuits
  • Raspberry panna cotta on macadamia and chocolate pudding topped with pashmak (Iranian fairy floss)
  • Mango and blueberry pan-cake with caramelised pineapple and mint topped with passionfruit cream
  • Cheese plate of Gorgonzola dolce and Tarago River Jensen Red served with fresh dates and lavosh wafers
