From discovering Darwin to cruising Katherine Gorge, see the best the Kimberley has to offer. See the world's largest diamond mine and relax in Broome, the pearling capital. Spot wildlife on the Ord River and cruise through Geikie Gorge.

Day 1: Arrive Broome

On arrival at Broome Airport you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director.

Day 2: Broome 'Free Time'

Enjoy a day at leisure exploring this tropical hideaway. You may wish to visit magnificent Cable Beach, one of the most stunning beaches in the world, with 22km of white sand and clear tropical water. There are a number of options available and your Tour Director will be able to help you with suggestions. Perhaps take a spectacular Scenic Flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago or ride a camel at sunset on the beach. Or stroll through Chinatown, home to some of the world's finest pearl showrooms.

Day 3: Fitzroy Crossing

This morning we depart for Derby, the oldest established town in the Kimberley, located on the tidal mud flats on the edge of the King Sound. See the famous Boab Prison Tree, believed to be around 1,500 years old and used by the police as an overnight holding cell. Continue on to Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 4: Geikie Gorge - Halls Creek

Cruise through spectacular Geikie Gorge which has been formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. Watch for freshwater crocodiles, fruit bats and wallabies as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us. Later we travel to Halls Creek, on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert at the doorstep of the majestic World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park. This afternoon we'll have the opportunity to meet and talk with some local indigenous artists.

Day 5: Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine

We travel just north of Halls Creek and enter the Argyle mining lease to visit the Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine for a guided tour of the world's largest diamond mine, which produces one quarter of the world's diamond annually.

Day 6: Ord River Cruise

Cruise the placid waters of the Ord River from Kununurra to Lake Argyle. This permanent water supply has formed wetland areas, which have become havens for myriads of birds and a variety of marsupials that inhabit the islands in the lake. We then visit the Historic Durack Homestead. See the Ord River Irrigation Scheme, Hidden Valley National Park and visit Kelly's Knob Lookout. Later, travel to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. See the birdlife of this region and learn about traditional lifestyles. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout for sensational views over the Cambridge Gulf.

Day 7: El Questro

We briefly travel along the Gibb River Road on our way to El Questro Station. Cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole fringed by tropical vegetation. You will then have some free time in this serene Wilderness Park. Brimming with natural wonders including magnificent mountain ranges, rambling rivers, gorges, thermal springs and vast stretches of spinifex plain, it is truly one of the world's few remaining wild frontiers.

Day 8: Katherine

You will gain an appreciation of the vastness of this land as we leave Western Australia and journey eastwards into the Northern Territory and on to Katherine.

Day 9: Darwin

We enter Nitmiluk National Park for a magical cruise on the placid waters of the Katherine River through the towering cliffs of two gorges. Continue to the Adelaide River War Cemetery for a visit and inspection, before arriving at Darwin, the tropical capital of the Northern Territory. Enjoy an orientation tour of the city on arrival.
